In July 2013 a group of housing and homelessness agencies came together to discuss the Government’s Homelessness-to-Housing Strategy 2020. Initially discussions were focused on how organisations could share information and resources, it quickly became apparent that the clear path to the future was much better integration within and across service systems.
This led to a number of agencies coming together in October 2013 to begin the process of forming Housing Connections, a consortium of housing and specialist homelessness services dedicated to achieving the best possible outcome for vulnerable people in the community.
Housing Connections was established as a housing and homelessness consortium in January 2014 and a legally binding Consortium Agreement was executed. Although not a legal entity in its own right, the Consortium Agreement identifies protocols of operation, processes for decision making and policies that guide our activities.

The Housing Connections Centre provides a co-location of multiple organisations working together to provide a ‘one stop shop’ and integrated service delivery model to people who are homeless or at risk of homelessness.
Housing Connections is located at 294-296 Ross River Road, Aitkenvale. Coast to Country Housing Company, Australian Red Cross Homeless Hub and Sharehouse Youth Program are all based in this building. The Women’s Centre referrals operate on a regular basis. The Women’s Centre offices are located one street behind Housing Connections.
